-
-
- REQUIREMENTS
-
- A C128 with 64K VDC or C128D running CP/M 3.0, ZP/M, ZCPR3 or
- compatible OS.
-
- At least one 1541, 1541 compatible or better disk drive.
-
- 80 column monitor capable of 640 X 480 interlace bit map displays.
-
-
- OVERVIEW
-
- PCX'EM now allows .PCX images up to 640 X 480! PCX files are
- created with PC Paintbrush by ZSoft for DOS, Windows or any other
- compatible software. Currently only 2 color (1 bit) images are
- supported. If you try to view 16 or 256 color PCX files then
- PCXVIEW displays an error message.
-
- If you do not have 64K VDC memory or monitor capable of 640 X 480
- interlace then get PCX'EM 1.0. You are limited to 640 X 200
- displays with that version.
-
- Special thanks to Freb Bowen at Commodore for all his help with the
- VDC interlace stuff.
-
-
- USING PCXEM.COM
-
- Viewing a PCX file is quite simple. Just use the following calling
- convention:
-
- PCXEM {u:d:}filespec {color}
-
- (u:d:) is the optional CP/M user and drive. (filespec) is the PCX
- file to view. You must include the .PCX extension. (color) is the
- VDC background color 0 through 15. If no value is specified then
- black on a blue background is used.
-
-
- PCXEM PCXEM.PCX 5
-
- This example views PCXEM.PCX on a light green background.
-
-
- READ THIS!!!
-
- It is IMPORTANT that you toggle off the disk status line with
- [CONTROL] [RUN STOP] before viewing any images. The disk status
- line is updated during disk I/O and writes to the VDC. This will
- throw off the current VDC update address PCX'EM is using and barf
- all over the image. You can toggle on the status line later if
- needed.
-
-
- HINTS ON CONVERTING PCX FILES FOR THE VDC
-
- You can view any 2 color PCX image created for a VGA type PC in 640
- X 480 mode. No more scaling images for 640 X 200! Just copy PCX
- files off your PC to a CP/M formatted disk and view'em with PCX'EM!
-
-
